Fun Ideas for Summer Homeschooling

Let's go over some ideas for fun homeschool classes and educational activities to keep the kids busy during the summer. What's best? These are all included with your Homeschool Pro membership! If you're not yet a member, you can find out more and enroll online here:

All classes can be taken at student's own pace and schedule, and will not interfere with any summer plans you may already have. 

Design and simulate the launch of a rocket (Middle and High School):

In our Rocketry (Middle School) and Aerospace Engineering (High School) classes, students will design their own rockets, learning about the various systems and flighty dynamics. Great and fun class to gain and retain physics knowledge during the summer! We will be using free software for the simulation. We can't wait to see your kid's rocket design!

Design Your Own Video Game (Ages 8/9 and up):

Kids will learn programming as they code their own video game. They will start by learning Scratch, which is a visual programming language and is easy to learn while absorbing the foundations of coding. They will then learn to code games and mods for Roblox and Minecraft, and they also get introduced to Python which is a more advanced language. The whole family can have fun playing the games your kids designed!

Become a "Doctor-in-training" (Middle School and Up)

Learn about medicine, what doctors do, health, the medical imaging devices used, and how the human body works, in this fun class where student assumes the role of a doctor in training. A fun health and biology class that will keeps student engaged,

Junior Medicine Class

Write for The Kids Ledger - The Kids Ledger is the magazine written entirely by homeschooled kids. Many families have told us that their kids will be working on pieces for the magazine this summer, what a great project! All junior reporters will also receive a press ID. Make a lemonade stand (Ages 6-10): Our Little Entrepreneurship class introduces kids to Entrepreneurship and walks them through everything required to run their own lemonade stand.

Young Scientist Class (Middle School and Up): This exciting science class includes lots of puzzles, challenges, escape-room like scenarios, demonstrations, and experiments, to ensure long term retention of scientific knowledge.

Learn about animals - For prospective Vets and Zoologists, enjoy our Animal Science (Elementary) and Zoology (Middle School and Up) classes in these fun science classes that focuses on animals but also sharpens general science skills such as scientific research methods:

Chess: Learn to play chess with our beginner-friendly class: Chess Class

Intermediate and Advance classes also coming soon.

Soccer - learn soccer techniques! Your kid can take their mobile device or table to the yard or playground and learn soccer techniques while getting exercise and having fun. Soccer Class

Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Learn to solve a Rubik's Cube and other riddles and challenges while exercising  critical thinking skills and gaining needed practice in math, spelling, and more

Cooking: Learn cooking through our various kid-friendly recipes (requires parental supervision for the younger kids)

Piano: Learn to play the piano (or keyboard) as well as reading notes, music terminology and theory, and other foundations. We also have guitar and trumpet lessons. Other instruments coming soon Piano Class

Learn ASL: Want to learn a fun and useful language? Why not ASL, which is a visual language which also improves hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, visual-spatial awareness, creativity, and self-expression. It is also the third most spoken language in the US, so by learning it your kids will be able to communicate with tons new people! Great language to learn both academic wise and career wise. And as we said already, its FUN to learn and master. Our self-paced classes will have them signing in no time!

American Sign Language Class

Participate in a fun virtual contests: We currently have a Virtual Art Contest and Kid's Inventor Challenge running through the summer. See parent portal for details. Certificate of Participation will be added to the JuniorFolio of every kid who participates, and there are also prizes!

More: Younger kids can enjoy some read-alouds. 

Learn or strengthen your drawing skills with our art classes for every age group. 

Write literature or poetry with the help of our writing classes.

And more, kids are sure to find classes they are passionate about! 

While everything we listed sounds fun, they probably won't have time to do ALL the activities we suggested, but no worries, they have plenty of time to continue having fun throughout the school year.
